Engaged couples:

Congratulations on selecting St. Jude Catholic Church for your Rite of Marriage celebration!  This is an exciting and busy time for couples as they plan their special day.  The St. Jude Wedding Ministry is here to assist with your ceremony/mass and to ensure your day is a blessed beginning of a long and happy marriage.

As you prepare your “to do” list, consider the important information below:

Step 1.  Contact St. Jude.  Your initial step in planning your wedding is to contact the parish priest or deacon as soon as possible.  The priest or deacon will have a discussion with you to determine what preparation, documentation, etc. is required to be married at St. Jude.  He will also schedule a time to meet with both of you.

Step 2.  Schedule wedding and wedding rehearsal.  Once you have spoken to the priest or deacon, then they will refer you to the church secretary to schedule a date and time for your wedding and wedding rehearsal.  The secretary will advise you of important information regarding locations, fees, etc.  She will need to get complete contact information for both of you.

Step 3.  Meet with Lead Wedding Minister.  Once your wedding and rehearsal are on the church calendar, the church secretary will forward your contact information to the Lead Wedding Minister and she will contact you to set up a meeting.  (It is important that your contact information include a primary phone number and email address.)  This meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss all aspects of the ceremony – readings, music, devotions, procession options, what is acceptable in the church, etc.  The Lead Wedding Minister will follow up after this meeting to confirm and finalize all the details.  You will be assigned 2-3 Wedding Ministers for your rehearsal and wedding.

Step 4.  Wedding Music.  Once the initial meeting with the Lead Wedding Minister is complete, she will forward your contact information to the Wedding Music Coordinator.  The Wedding Music Coordinator will contact you to:  determine your needs for music, help you select and book your musicians, and help you select music that is both appropriate in the church and meaningful to you.  The Wedding Music Coordinator will follow up to confirm and finalize your music.  St. Jude has a list of musicians available for weddings – the sooner these musicians are booked, the better, as their calendars tend to fill quickly.
